My first impression about the project

I had to present my project today. It was an anxious day for me for many reasons.

Firstly, I was going to be the first to present it. And this has its difficulties because you don't have an example or a preview of a presentation in order to have an idea about pros and cons of it. You are the first and you are going to be the first example for others, meaning that your presentation should be as perfect as possible.

Another reason is that I chose a grammatical topic. In every language the grammar part is that "black-and-white", or the boring part. It was very difficult for me to make the lesson interesting and to entertain the audience with a grammar topic. How could the students laugh or find it interesting by explaining "Active and Passive Voice" to them?

The third and the most important reason why I felt anxious today is that I had to use technological tools. It was totally new for me. I have had some experiences explaining some topics in front of the class. But today, I had to do it by using technology.

I downloaded a video about Active and Passive Voice. You can find it by clicking in here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7glMZfnKVoA
Or you can see it on my blog:

What I did next, was that I removed the sound. Then I had to follow the rhythm of my explanation with the rhythm of the video.  And this was the most difficult part. But I succeeded because I made a lot of practice. :)  Anyway, I had to find something interesting in this video in order to make the audience follow me with an attention and not get bored. And that interesting element was in the end of the video. It was a moment where I had to explain reasons why we use Passive Voice. And one of the reasons was to use Passive Voice when the subject is obvious from the context.  There was an example "The baby was born yesterday." and I had to explain to the audience that it is obvious that the mother is the doer of the action, or the subject, not the doctor or the father. My goal was to make the audience laugh at this part. And I felt very good when they laughed. I achieved my goal. :)

After that, I wrote examples where a sentence is transformed from Active into Passive. I found them in here: http://www.englishpage.com/verbpage/activepassive.html
And I wrote them in a PowerPoint document.

In the end, I prepared some exercises.

I really like using technology tools in explanation. All it needs is PRACTICE AND A LOT OF PRACTICE! It is very helpful. You can turn a grammar topic into an interesting one if you know how to use technology. Even though the topic might seem boring to the students, if you interact it with some beautiful pictures, a video, then they will love it, they will get motivated and of course, they will study that topic. That's what teachers want from their students, to study and learn a lot. But, they have to make them learn through motivation. One of the ways to motivate students is to use technology. I'm pretty sure that if I would have the opportunity to explain this topic again, I could make it more interesting and funny because technology gives this opportunity. I feel glad that I will have this opportunity in the future when I'll start working as a teacher. I will use technology. I will always motivate my students.
